New Year, New View!

Did Christmas add clutter to your home? If so, here are some tips to clear the decks and get organised.

Toys – No doubt the children would’ve been given lots of new toys for Christmas which often means their older toys will be banished to the bottom of a chaotic toybox. This is a great opportunity to ask your children which toys they’d like to give to charity so that other children can enjoy them. If they’re reluctant to part with any of them, sneak a few less-played-with toys into a cupboard and if, after a month, your child hasn’t noticed them missing, get them to a charity shop quick!
For the remaining toys, tidy them away in a stylish shelving unit or basket.

Toiletries – it’s so lovely to receive ‘smellies’ for Christmas, isn’t it? But if your bathroom shelf is now overflowing, get yourself some caddies and group things together. You can also decant your shower gel into smaller pump dispensers and use as hand soap.

Socks – is it even Christmas if you don’t get given socks? If your sock drawer is now getting a bit full, you can take all your threadbare and holey ones to a charity shop. Just put them all in a bag, along with any other clothes, towels, bedlinen etc. which has seen better days, and label it as ‘ragging’. This is because most charity shops (those that sell clothing) will have an arrangement with a textile recycler who will buy unwanted fabrics to recycle or export overseas to be sold.

Mind – there’s nothing more rewarding than a tidy mind! Get your to-do list written down and get a calendar on your wall to remind you of those important birthdays and much needed days off!
